Crawdads in the Creek

Over the summer the kids found one of their favorite spots right by our place. It's a small creek that comes out of Red Butte Gardens and it has a bunch of crawdads and water skeeters. Xidis and Elyxzia love to go there and play in the water.




I showed Xidis that you can catch water skeeters if you're really fast. He was so excited and he immediately started chasing a group of them back and fourth for about half an hour and he actually caught 3 of them. He was really impressed with himself and said to me, "Dad, I'm an expert." I didn't even know he knew what that meant.




Elyxzia wasn't shy about any of it either. She loved to hold the crawdads and watch them. She played in the water and looked for crawdads. One time she was on the edge squatting down and she tipped forward and went face first into the creek. She was under water for about half a second before we picked her up.
